Over the years I have been actively engaged in both professional and academic associations that advance the research and practice of public relations/communications. Here is a list of the organizations that I have been involved in during my professional and academic careers.
Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communications (AEJMC)
A.W. Page Society ** Elected to Board of Trustees 2015-current
Canadian Communications Association (CCA)
Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) ** Elected President 2009-2010
Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
Institute for Public Relations (IPR) ** Elected to Board of Trustees 2013-current
International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)
International Communication Association (ICA)
International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity (ISSSS)
Reputation Institute
More locally I have been involved in conducting research for local organizations to assess their reputations, community engagement and overall public relations practices.
Many years ago, when I was developing my professional practice in Kitchener-Waterloo, I was heavily involved in the Chamber of Commerce movement. In 1994, at the tender age of 35, I was elected the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Kitchener & Waterloo, the youngest person to ever serve in that capacity in the Chambers’ long history.
